Teeth Whitening
Your morning coffee has been leaving its mark for years. So has the tea, the red wine, and simply getting older — enamel naturally darkens over time regardless of how well you brush. Professional whitening at Joyner Family Dental uses hydrogen or carbamide peroxide at concentrations that pharmacy products cannot legally match, reaching staining that sits deep within the tooth structure rather than just on the surface. Two options are available: in-chair whitening completed in a single sitting, or custom take-home trays you use over 10–14 days at your own pace.
Not everyone is a candidate for whitening, and that is checked before anything else. Your dentist examines your enamel thickness, gum health, and any existing restorations — because crowns, veneers, and composite fillings will not change colour with whitening. Knowing that upfront means no surprises halfway through treatment. Temporary sensitivity is common during whitening and typically settles within a day or two; your dentist will discuss how to manage it based on your individual history.
The take-home trays are not the boil-and-bite type from the chemist. They are made from a Trios digital scan of your teeth — a precise 3D map that takes about three minutes, no putty involved. The trays fit your exact arch shape with controlled reservoirs for the whitening gel, which prevents the agent from seeping onto your gums and causing irritation. It is a small detail that makes a measurable difference to comfort.
What to Expect
- Your dentist checks enamel condition, gum health, and existing restorations before prescribing whitening
- A Trios digital scan captures your arch shape in minutes — no impression putty
- In-chair option: a single appointment of 60–90 minutes with immediate shade change
- Take-home option: custom trays fitted to your scan, used over a 10–14 day protocol at home
- Your dentist discusses sensitivity management tailored to your history
- A review appointment confirms the shade result and plans any maintenance top-ups
Benefits
- Professional-strength concentrations that reach staining beyond the surface layer
- Custom-fitted trays from a digital scan — not generic pharmacy trays
- Choose in-chair or take-home depending on your schedule and preference
- No tooth structure is removed or altered during the process

Our Approach to Cosmetic Dentistry
The thing you have been noticing every time you catch your reflection — that gap, that chip, that shade that does not match — deserves a proper answer, not a quick fix.
Your Journey
How Cosmetic Treatment Works at This Practice
Five steps from your first question to your final review — and you control the pace at every stage.

The Conversation
You sit down and talk. Not to a treatment coordinator reading from a script — to your dentist. What bothers you How long has it bothered you What have you already tried Your teeth and gums are examined to identify anything that needs clinical attention before cosmetic work makes sense. By the end of this appointment, you will know what options exist for your specific situation, what each one involves, and a rough idea of cost. Nothing is booked. Nothing is decided. You take it home and think.
Digital Planning and Preview
This is where the photography room earns its keep. Clinical images are taken under controlled lighting, loaded into the digital smile design software, and your facial proportions are mapped against your tooth dimensions. Then you see it — a preview of the proposed result on your own photographs, not a stock model. For veneer cases, a physical mock-up is placed directly over your unprepared teeth so you can look in a mirror and see the shape, length, and proportion in your own mouth. If something is not right, it gets changed. The plan is not finalised until you are genuinely satisfied.

Preparation
Once you have approved the plan and decided to go ahead, the clinical work begins. For veneers, that means carefully shaping the tooth surfaces under local anaesthesia and fitting temporary restorations while the laboratory fabricates your permanent eMax ceramic veneers. For whitening, your Trios scan is used to manufacture precision take-home trays. For Invisalign, the finalised ClinCheck simulation is submitted and your custom aligner sequence is fabricated. Your dentist walks you through each step before it starts — no surprises mid-appointment.
Delivery
Your permanent restorations arrive and are placed. Porcelain veneers are bonded with cement shade-matched to the underlying tooth for a seamless result. Composite bonding is refined and polished chairside until the texture matches your natural enamel. Invisalign aligners are fitted with attachments placed where the ClinCheck simulation specified. Before the appointment ends, you look in the mirror with everything in place. If the bite feels off or a margin needs adjusting, it happens then and there — not at a separate appointment.

Review and Ongoing Care
Two to four weeks after delivery, you come back. Your dentist checks the bite, examines the margins of any restorations, and asks how everything has felt in daily use. Maintenance guidance is specific to your treatment: how to care for veneers, when to top up whitening, how long to wear your Invisalign retainer, what to watch for with composite bonding. Cosmetic dental work lasts longer when the teeth and gums around it stay healthy — so regular check-ups remain part of the equation, not an optional extra.

Transparent Pricing
You See the Cost Before You See the Dentist's Handpiece
No one should sit down for cosmetic treatment wondering what the bill will look like. Every plan at Joyner Family Dental includes an itemised quote discussed and agreed before anything is booked. These are starting-from figures — your exact cost depends on how many teeth are involved and what the clinical situation requires.
All figures shown are starting-from prices and depend on clinical assessment. Your actual cost is determined by the number of teeth treated, the complexity of the case, and the materials selected. A full itemised quote is provided and agreed at your consultation — no clinical work proceeds until you have confirmed the cost in writing. Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
Payment Options
Practical Ways to Manage the Cost
Cosmetic dental treatment is a considered decision, and paying for it should be just as considered. We can discuss payment options that suit your situation at your consultation.
Direct Clinic Payment Plans
For larger treatment plans, the practice can arrange a direct instalment plan tailored to the treatment timeline. The details — frequency, duration, and any deposit — are discussed at your consultation so there are no surprises. This is arranged directly with the practice, not through a third-party finance company.
Health Fund Claims
If you have private health insurance with extras cover, the reception team can check your estimated rebate on specific item numbers through HICAPS before your appointment. Most cosmetic procedures have limited or no health fund coverage, but some restorative items may attract a partial rebate. Your out-of-pocket figure is confirmed before treatment begins.
Major Credit Cards Accepted
Visa, Mastercard, and EFTPOS are accepted for all treatments. For patients who prefer to pay in full on the day, the itemised quote discussed at consultation is the final figure — no additional fees or charges are added at the time of treatment.
